Senior Level Linux DevOps Automation SRE

Our client is seeking a Senior Level Linux DevOps Automation SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) contractor with high probability to convert to a perm employee.

This exciting position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to be a part of a newly formed Server OS Practice.  It will give the individual an opportunity to work with a team of engineers who are intrigued by how things work and are constantly looking to make things better.  We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, has passion for technology, and a desire to provide outstanding customer service.

A successful candidate will utilize technology to automate manual tasks, engineer solutions, and optimize outcomes.   They will have the insight to recognize inefficient processes and the technical ability to implement new and fresh solutions. They will be SME’s, serving as an escalation point for challenging operational issues that cannot be solved by junior members of the team.

The top technical skills for this role include advanced Linux implementation experience, a high proficiency in scripting languages, and an ability to create and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

The successful candidate must be able to:
  1. Install, configure, build, implement, and secure Linux base products in an automated fashion.
  2. Automate processes/code in BASH, Python, Ruby, Go, node.js, JavaScript, or another modern language.
  3. Leverage configuration and image management tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Packer, or something comparable to perform automated lifecycle management of a large Linux server farm.   
  4. Create and deliver Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through a CICD pipeline utilizing DevOps tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, Pylint, or comparable toolsets.
  5. Consume source code repositories such as Bitbucket, GitHub, Artifactory, or comparable toolsets.
  6. Leverage enterprise toolsets such as Splunk to search, analyze, visualize, report, and proactively alert on machine generated data to achieve operational excellence.
  7. Troubleshoot Linux issues and application related issues.
  8. Successfully collaborate across various technology disciplines.
  9. Work in an Agile Development Framework
  10. Help evangelize IT best practices and trends including TechOps, Automation, DevOps, etc. 
  11. Familiarity with container platforms such as Google Anthos or Mesosphere a plus.
  12. ServiceNow development experience a plus.
  13. Public Cloud Experience (AWS or Azure) a plus.
The qualifications include:
  1. Minimum 2 years related current experience.   
  2. An ability to work with ambiguous and abstract concepts, as the candidate will often have to resolve complex customer inquiries.

  9. A passion to provide world class customer service.
  10. Ability to provide 7x24x365 on call support.
  11. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related technical field.
