Associate Project Manager

Fairfield, NJ

Scope: The Associate Project Manager is responsible for assisting to manage cross functional teams to deliver small and moderate projects that meet project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The Associate Project Manager accomplishes this by resourcing the project (with internal or external resources), ensuring deadlines are met, guiding staff, problem solving, and overall financial accountability of the profit and loss of their projects.

Supervisory Responsibility:

 

Essential Job Functions:

· Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion

· Direct and manage project development and lifecycle from start to finish for the timely completion of design projects and services

· Define project scope, schedule, cost, resources, quality, forecasts (including financial) and deliverables in collaboration with customers and management

· Self-perform design and/or engineering activities assigned to their project role

· Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential issues, and devise contingency plans

· Manage and motivate project team members and subconsultants to ensure completion of tasks, resourcefulness, and problem solving for their assigned work

· Serve as main point of contact for client on assigned small and moderate projects and assist Project Managers with their assigned complex projects, as well as assisting to manage financial aspects of projects

· Build, develop and grow client and vendor business relationships vital to project success

· Begin to seek sales and business development opportunities by fostering potential clients and maintaining existing client satisfaction

· Exhibit persuasive as well as informative communication skills with complex client scenarios, and seek assistance and direction from subject matter experts when necessary

Work within a team-oriented environment to prepare site plans and details on existing and proposed facilities including towers, water tanks, rooftops, billboards, and other supporting structures using applicable building and design codes

· Complete technical and QA/QC reviews of drawings, structural reports, and technical letters completed by others providing meaningful feedback and project specific direction

· Promote integrity and ethics within the team in respect to proper business conduct

· Coordinate in-house professionals and subconsultants to effectively prioritize multiple conflicting projects and goals to successfully complete deliverables within established budgets and deadlines

· Demonstrate strong time management while tracking and reporting on the progress of multiple ongoing projects, totaling approximately $500K annually

· Takes accountability and ownership of projects and staff performance, including individual and team performance and quality of work products

· Show a commitment to personal and professional development

· Conduct site visits to gather existing conditions data and train other staff members to efficiently complete site visits

· Identify out of scope tasks and scope creep to request additional funds to complete the work

· Track financial accountability for the financial profit and loss of project

· Attend internal and external status meetings, with flexibility in work environments, as needed

· Provide guidance and direction to other project team members, while seeking guidance and direction when needed

· Valid driver’s license required

 

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's degree is required in Structural or Civil Engineering

· 5-8 years of experience with architectural, civil, structural, or telecommunications design is recommended

· 0-3 years of Project Management experience

· Experience managing and training staff is a plus

· Professional Engineering License is a plus

· Experience with financial accountability is a plus

· Specific experience with Telecommunications projects or clients is preferred

· Small Cell telecommunications design experience is preferred

· Electric Vehicle Charging Station design experience is preferred

· Must be experienced with Microsoft Office suite

· Proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred

· Experience with project management tools and structural analysis software is a plus

· A solid understanding of codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, and TIA and others is preferred

 

Physical Demands:

Occasionally the employee will need to visit sites that include rooftop access while lifting and/or moving equipment up to 25 lbs.
