The Senior Network Engineer role is a Network – Data and Voice subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will serve as a lead network engineer supporting client’s infrastructure initiatives with limited oversight. This role will consult, engineer, and deliver technical network solutions and achieve client infrastructure objectives with a high emphasis on showing results and business value. The Senior Network Engineer will focus on major network support and network administration as well work on high level network projects and deployments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Network Engineer will perform duties which include, but are not limited to:
Defines, documents, and maintains the network architecture and standards of our clients.
Be subject matter expert leading our clients into future technologies as well as working with Solutions Architects to shape the direction of our product offerings.
Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, or under only general direction, on moderately complex requirements to analyze, plan, program, and implement.
Experience in analysis and design of voice networks, LAN data networks, wireless networks, and network management systems to support voice and data services.
Troubleshoot advanced customer network issues
Lead engineer for deployment new and upgraded network infrastructure projects based on CTI standards.
Scope and Dimensions:
Reporting relationship: Position currently reports to the Client Services Executive
External interactions: Chiefly with customer IT staff, sponsors, and stakeholders
Internal interactions: Chiefly with technical support staff, solution architects and project managers.
Hours: 8:30am-5pm (M-F), however, the Senior Network Engineer will serve on rotation as engineer on call and may need to work non-standard hours on occasion
Remote/Onsite: Position is considered to be remote, with minimal travel to customer sites.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
CCNA or equivalent networking certification
Excellent communication skills
At least 5 years’ experience in the managed services work space
Strong knowledge of Cisco, HPE/Aruba and Fortinet LAN and edge products.
Exceptionally meticulous planning and organizing skills
Experience in a customer-facing role and the ability to interact at all levels of an organization
Proven ability to manage within time and budget constraints
Experience with ConnectWise Manage and Automate
Direct experience working for a customer-facing VAR or integrator
Direct experience implementing data networks or IT systems
