Director of Technology & Information Systems

The Director of Technology provides technology vision and leadership in the research, planning, implementation, management, and security of the technology program, including network, digital storage, and communication systems for both academic and business operations.

The Director of Technology develops and maintains the vision and direction of the entire Office of Information Technology. The Director of Technology oversees a 1,500+ User Multigigabit Cisco Meraki Network with Cisco Unified Collaboration, Microsoft Failover Clustering, iSCSI SAN, and Hybrid Cloud (Azure and M365) multi application environment.

Essential Functions Primarily, the Director of Information Technology:

• is a direct report to the President, serves as the primary technical adviser and consultant to the President’s Administrative Leadership Team;
 oversees the Office of Information Technology, an administrative unit of the school and leads a staff consisting of the Systems Administrator, the Director of Web Technology and Communications, Director of Multimedia and Social Media Technology, Support Center Coordinator, Technology Integration Specialists, and Student Lab Managers;
• Coaches and mentors the marquee Student Lab Manager Program including recruiting, interviewing, and vetting candidate pool, developing student leadership, and enriching program vision for further expansion and development.
• Coordinates the Community TechServe outreach program focused on bridging the digital divide at faith-based primary schools in need. • pioneers the Microsoft IT Academy, founded in 1995, through student-centered teaching and learning in digital technologies and champions continued programmatic innovation.
• is an ex-officio member of the Technology, Building, & Grounds (BGT) Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Strategy Committee. The Director of Information Technology has specific oversight of: IT Research and Planning
• conducts and communicates appropriate and relevant academic and industry-level research necessary for continuing La Salle’s national leadership role among schools

The Director of Information Technology has specific oversight of: IT Research and Planning
• conducts and communicates appropriate and relevant academic and industry-level research necessary for continuing organizations national leadership role among schools.
• develops, creates, and implements the school’s strategic technology plan, working with senior school administration in both academic and operational aspects of the school. IT Implementation and Management
• manages the school’s multiple information and communication hardware and software systems, equipment and projects, including voice, data, imaging, office- and cloud-based storage systems.
• under the supervision of the President and in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, manages the Computer Services Budget.
• maintains necessary licenses for school software.
• designs, implements, and evaluates the systems that support end users in the productive uses of digital hardware and software.
• oversees the work of the Technology Integration Specialists and works with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to promote best digital instructional practices throughout the school.
• with Technology Integration Specialists, and the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, works to implement the school’s cyber-lesson programs which continue instruction during weather- and other unforeseen emergencies.
• in conjunction with the Chair of the Information Science & Technology Department, confers on a regular basis on areas of mutual interest and concern.
• approves purchases of all campus wide systems/software purchases for all departments and offices including cloud services, web interfaces, and Software as a Service (SaaS). Digital Security
• controls all system passwords.
• develops, implements, and maintains digital security for all school network, digital storage and communication systems, and school-owned digital equipment hardware.
• implements a periodic security audit of all school digital devices and systems with outside vendors.
• presents a report of an industry-level security audit twice a year to the President and the BGT Committee. General and Other Areas
• teaches classes in the Academic Department of Information Science & Technology as deemed appropriate by the Principal.
• undertakes other duties as assigned by the President

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and constructively collaborate with constituents at all levels in the organization, including colleagues, trustees, families, students, and vendors.
• Ability to be both tactical and strategic.
• Ability to work after hours, over weekends and, on holidays with short or no notice (as needed). Competencies
